UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health

The appointment will be on UCL Grade Speciality Training Registrar / Junior Doctor. The salary range will be Specialty Training Registrar Grade £36,938 - £51,230 per annum or Junior Doctors Pay Scale £30,837 -  £51,223 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The MRC-funded International Centre for Genomic Medicine in Neuromuscular Diseases (ICGNMD) was established in June 2019 to deliver a deeply-phenotyped, “trial-ready” international cohort of neuromuscular disease (NMD) patients and their families, and to train fellows in neuromuscular clinical genomics. The Centre will widen the beneficiaries of NMD interventions and therapies, including emerging genetic therapies, to include people living in low-to-middle income countries. Eleven international fellows from our 5 linked countries (in Brazil, India, South Africa, Zambia and Turkey) have already been appointed. 

This advert is for the single post available at UCL-ICH. Applicants may have the opportunity to undertake a PhD, or may already hold a PhD qualification and wish to undertake a research project. A full description is available in the attached job description. 


Applicants must be registered medical practitioners permitted to practise in the UK, have completed general medical training, and hold MRCP or equivalent (including from overseas). Applicants will need to undertake Good Clinical Practice Training and demonstrate a commitment to patient confidentiality, be prepared to acquire knowledge and skills essential for effective research governance and act at all times to the highest professional standards. Excellent oral and written communication and good interpersonal skills, IT proficiency at advanced user level and resourcefulness are also required. An Honorary Clinical Contract will be sought from the relevant NHS Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.
