As part of the Human Sciences team with the Jaguar Land Rover Research department, an exciting new position is available for a Cognitive Neuroscientist to join the team. The role is to lead technical aspects of Cognitive Neuroscience within Human Science focussed research and development projects within Jaguar Land Rover. This role is to provide subject matter leadership in the area of Cognitive Neuroscience, to support projects that require expert involvement, and also to lead specific focussed research in this area that could deliver technology innovation. The individual will be required to provide expertise on the latest developments in cognitive neuroscience field and help the business to understand the impact of these findings on how we design our products, including topics such as all types of perception, cognition, attention, workload, comfort and stress, as well as investigating new technologies in the area of brain sensing that can be used to support the vehicle design process.

 

Responsibilities

  • Technical leadership in the area of Cognitive neuroscience, including the development of a business aligned vision for Cognitive Neuroscience Research
  • Lead technical role for developing cognitive neuroscience-based requirements supporting the delivery of new technologies and new applications of current technologies
  • Establish and deploy best technical practice methods in the field including experimental design, data collection and analysis, and the authoring of technical requirements to be used by the engineering community within Jaguar Land Rover
  • Knowledge transfer in terms of formal training, and mentoring. Champion training in the specialism and create new internal education modules
  • Develop an understanding of both internal and external customer attributes and how cognitive neuroscience technology requirements can address these
  • Development of process and reports to ensure consistent and robust delivery of their technology or attribute
  • Support task force activities to solve complex engineering problems where cognitive neuroscience skillset is required
  • Expected to author articles and present at world class conferences

 

Requirements 

Essential:

  • Qualified to at least Master level in the field of cognitive neuroscience or a related discipline
  • Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders, directors and external partners
  • Experience of taking research questions and concepts in the cognitive neuroscience field, interpreting them from basic scientific principles, and building into a theoretically sound concepts, before testing iterating and refining a concept for mass production that can be used by all
  • Sound knowledge of experimental design, data collection and analytical skills in the area of cognitive neuroscience, able to adapt experimental methodology to a number of different settings and situations
  • An individual, who can work independently, is results driven, demonstrating tenacity, drive and perseverance with the ability to deliver solutions in a complex, highly demanding environment
  • An individual with the capability to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with medium- and long-term planning

  • Qualified to PhD level in the field of cognitive neuroscience
