Description The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Junior Research Assistant or Research Assistant to contribute to Neuroscience projects aimed at translating insights from Systems and Computational Neuroscience into clinical research. These projects are established through collaborations with: • The International Brain Lab, a unique global consortium of twenty-two leading neuroscience research groups dedicated to decoding the brain-wide neural basis of decision-making at single-cell resolution. • The Microbiota I-Center, a world-class microbiome biotechnology hub with clinical and experimental expertise aimed at translating microbiome innovations for early disease detection and prevention. Projects and Opportunities: Current projects focus on leveraging brain-wide datasets, high-density in vivo electrophysiology, and telemetry EEG/EMG recordings to study circuit-based neuropathological conditions, develop cross-species computational models, and investigate how gut-brain dynamics contribute to neuropathologies. On-the-job training, international exposure, publication opportunities, and professional development prospects will be provided. Outstanding performance may lead to opportunities for further study. The successful applicant will: 1. Hold a BSc or higher qualification, preferably in neuroscience or related quantitative disciplines such as cognitive science, computational science, or statistics. 2. Be proficient in English with strong communication skills. 3. Demonstrate programming skills/experience and the ability to analyse/model behavioural and neural data. 4. Be responsible, organised, efficient, and self-motivated. 5. Show enthusiasm for research and collaboration. Candidates with research experience and knowledge in Python, machine learning, or animal EEG will have an advantage. Key responsibilities include: • Analysing and modelling neural, behavioural, and other biological data. • Developing and maintaining analytical methodologies and technical skills. • Disseminating research findings through presentations and publications. • Collaborating with colleagues within and outside the research projects. • Performing other tasks as assigned.
