About the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as Research Assistant supporting the health psychology evaluation for two clinical research studies, with an equal time split between the two studies. The first study examines whether neuromodulation using transcranial magnetic stimulation can improve cognitive function in people living with multiple sclerosis (MS), and the research assistant will be involved in assessing cognitive outcomes and evaluating the experience of participants. The second study evaluates the use of MRI scanning to detect tumours in children with the inherited condition Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T), and the research assistant be involved in evaluating the impact of taking part in a cancer screening trial on the children and their families.

The post-holder will be an enthusiastic junior researcher (pre-doctoral) with a background in psychology or related discipline. The person appointed will be responsible for recruiting participants, qualitative and quantitative data collection, data analysis, drafting reports and preparing papers. They will also assist post-doctoral researchers with day-to-day administrative tasks relating to the two studies.

You will join established teams in Clinical Neurosciences led by Professor Rob Dineen, whose main areas of research interests include clinical neuroradiology and imaging, with psychological aspects of the studies led experts in the Institute of Mental Health: Professor Roshan das Nair (MS study) and Professor Cris Glazebrook (A-T study).
