The Ye lab at Imperial College London invites applications from talented, highly motivated, and ambitious postdoctoral scientists for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position leading one or more projects investigating the relationship between build up and clearance of pathological protein aggregates associated with Alzheimer’s disease and activity of the ubiquitin-proteasome system. The ideal candidate will lead one or more projects exploring the role of proteasomes in the clearance of toxic aggregates derived from pathological samples. The project will unveil factors that assist proteasomes in removing protein aggregates in healthy cells and the malfunction of proteasomes in pathological cells. You will use a multidisciplinary approach (maintenance and manipulation of IPSC-neurons and established cell lines, super-resolution fluorescence imaging and various biochemical techniques) to unveil the proteostasis mechanisms and the effect of therapeutic intervention strategies on pathological aggregates.
