Dementia MRI conference 2017

External Event - 22nd to 23rd May 2017

On 22nd - 23rd May, we are delighted to invite MRI scientists, dementia researchers and healthcare professionals to the 2017 Dementia MRI conference at Cardiff University.

This conference, organised by imaging and clinical dementia scientists from the Universities of Cardiff, Bristol, Bath and Cambridge, focuses on the role of MRI in risk identification, early diagnosis and clinical trials.

The conference programme (TBC) will include presentations about the latest developments in MR technologies, including white matter imaging, and their applications to dementia research. Whilst a number of key speakers have already been confirmed, we also encourage junior scientists to submit their work for presentation.

The conference is supported by the Guarantors of Brain.

Conference objectives

  • To present the state-of-the-art MRI techniques and their role in dementia diagnosis and treatment monitoring

  • To communicate/present novel MRI techniques that allow imaging of white matter microstructure and highlight the utility of these techniques in detection of early dementia pathology
  • To communicate clinical MRI findings from white matter pathology in early dementia
  • To communicate potentials of advanced MRI to detect genetic biomarkers in imminent dementia
  • To communicate work on MRI dementia biomarker search
  • To communicate recent use of MRI biomarkers in drug discovery and drug trials.
