'NEUROSCIENCE: Exploring the Brain', a book review by Brenda Walker
22nd November 2024
External Event - 17th Mar 2018
The London Brain Bee is a neuroscience competition for secondary school children in the UK.
The competition will take place on Saturday the 17th of March, 2018 at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour.
To prepare for the contest, school students should study Neuroscience: Science of the Brain and Brain Facts book which are both available on Resources page. Any other neuroscience textbook would further help you prepare for the contest. Keep an eye on 'Study Resources' page because in the next couple of weeks it will expand.
The competition will be comprised of 3 parts:
neuroanatomy/neurohistology challenge (we are working hard to get a lab for this part and obtain enough real brain samples for the contest)
written MCQ test
podium challenge which is an oral question and answer test (similar to Jeopardy!)
The day will be full of activities, talks by neuroscientists, experiments, games and networking opportunities!
Lastly, there will be many prizes, including neuroscience textbooks. Also we will be giving out prizes for other challenges throughout the day. The winner of the competition will be awarded a trip to the National Brain Bee competition!
