BNA Event - 23rd Oct 2018
A Task and Finish Working Group, chaired by Chris Witty (DHSC Chief Scientific Adviser), was established in 2016 as a direct result of a parliamentary debate on the funding of brain tumour research in the UK. Both the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the Brain Tumour Research charity were involved in the process as group members. A report by the group was published in February 2018, and it identified significant opportunities for the brain tumour and neuroscience communities to work in partnership.
In response to the report, the MRC, the charity Brain Tumour Research and the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) are jointly organising a workshop with the purpose of:
This workshop is free, and will take place on the 23 October 2018 at the BEIS Conference Centre, 1 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 5ND.
The event will consist of:
A final workshop agenda is available here (PDF, 129KB).
We expect that participants will be positioned to lead new research activities and seek MRC funding. Applications for this workshop are open to researchers with expertise in either neurosciences or brain tumours who are considering projects that might benefit from multidisciplinary expertise.
To apply, please fill in this online survey; answers should provide sufficient information for us to ascertain which participants are more likely to benefit from attending the workshop. Please see details below on how the information provided will be used.
Applications must be received by 17:00 on 18 September 2018. Applicants will be informed of the outcome via email by the end of September 2018.
The survey answers will be used by the MRC, the BNA and Brain Tumour Research to determine the level of interest in the Workshop. As places are limited, the data will also be used to identify participants who might benefit most from attending. Preference will be given to researchers with an interest in, and/or experience of multidisciplinary research.
If we are able to invite you to participate in the workshop, the information provided will also be used to manage your attendance. All personal data provided will be held securely by the MRC and will only be accessible to those supporting the workshop, including representatives of the BNA and the Brain Tumour Research charity. The information provided will be deleted one month after the event is held.
