External Event - 26th to 28th Mar 2018
Neurotransmitters: non-neuronal functions and therapeutic opportunities, a conference organised by LE STUDIUM is being held from the 26th of March 2018 to the 28th of March 2018. Neurotransmitters have profound effects throughout the body, and are essential for communication between neurons, stimulation of muscle and the function of epithelial layers. It is now clear that neurotransmitters regulate a wider range of physiological responses than previously appreciated, including major influences on the immune system, and can be produced by non-neuronal sources.
In this meeting we will present new insights into how neurotransmitters function outside of the nervous system, how these roles contribute to protecting the body from disease and how these molecules can be manipulated to treat disease.
Neurotransmitters, epithelial cells, immune system, nervous system, lung health, mucosal immunity, infection
Abstracts for oral presentation should be submitted before Monday 12th of February. The number of oral presentations is limited, convenors will process a selection and confirm your presentation not later than Friday 16th of February.
Please send your poster (or the abstract of your poster) to maurine.villiers@lestudium-ias.fr. Please note that we do not print the posters, but racks & pins will be provided for up to A0 sizes.
The conference venue is unique. Located right next to the Orléans’ cathedral, the episcopal palace of Orléans, built between 1635 and 1641, locally known as the Hôtel Dupanloup, is a classical French building which served until 1905 of residence to the bishops of Orléans. Since 2014, the renewed palace hosts the International University Center for Research and Le Studium Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies.
Participants will be welcomed in this exceptional surrounding, blending Middle Age and Renaissance cultures with modern design and will have the opportunity to discover French cuisine and wines.
