The 11th Practical Cognition Course - Newcastle

For consultants and trainees in neurology, psychiatry, neuropsychology and rehabilitation medicine who want to develop their practical expertise in cognitive assessment and relate this to clinically relevant neuroscience

Venue: Colin Ingram Seminar Room, Henry Wellcome Building, The Medical School, NE2 4HH

This year’s course will cover: MEMORY DISORDERS, DISORDERS OF MOTOR FUNCTION AND COGNITION, VASCULAR DISEASE AND COGNITION and VISUOSPATIAL DISORDERS. Guest speakers include Sinead Mullally (Newcastle), Liz Coulthard (Bristol), Hugh Markus (Cambridge) and Sebastian Crutch (UCL). The course is organized by neurologists Tim Griffiths (Newcastle) and Chris Butler (Oxford).

Venue: This year's course will be held at the Institute of Neuroscience located within Newcastle University Medical School, Framlington Place, NE2 4HH. Building 61 on campus maps. The building is wheelchair accessible. 
We would recommend delegates use public transport where possible. Haymarket metro and bus station is approximately a 15 minute walk.  
The closest car park is located on Claremont Road (NE2 4AN) see website for details. 
Newcastle train station (NE1 5DB) is located in the city centre, it is appproximately a 25 minute walk from the course venue. Alternatively there is a taxi rank at the station, journey time 10 minutes without traffic). 
Newcastle is served by Newcastle International airport, located 7 miles north of the city. The metro (local train service) has a stop inside the airport and will bring you directly to Haymarket station (closest to the venue) in approximately 25 minutes, current adult ticket price £3.10, see website for details. Alternatively you could take a taxi, journey time approximately 30 minutes without traffic.

CPD: In previous years the course has been accredited CME points with the Royal College of Physicians. The organisers will be applying again this year.

Dinner: registration includes the course dinner which will take place on Thursday 4 October, 7pm at Six restaurant. Located on top of the Baltic gallery the restaurant gives beautiful panoramic views of the city rooftops and quayside. It is a great chance to network with fellow delegates and speakers.

Accommodation: accommodation is not included with registration. Newcastle is a bustling city with a range of hotels to suit all budgets - city centre, Quayside or Jesmond areas are all conveniently located for travel to the venue.
