The Biology of Regenerative Medicine

The aim of the third conference in this series is to understand the biology that underpins the success or failure of regenerative processes. We will explore the relationship between stem cell biology and regenerative biology so that both can be fully exploited to treat disease. 

Few topics in contemporary medicine have attracted more attention than stem cells and their potential for enabling the discovery of new therapies. This year’s conference will focus on our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying regeneration and how these can be applied to design strategies for regenerating, replacing or repairing mammalian tissues. We will also explore the use of pluripotent stem cells to model development in vitro and to produce cellular therapies for a range of diseases. The programme will include recent progress in cell-based therapies for liver disease, nerve-derived tissue repair, and therapies for sight loss, among others. There will be extended sessions on gene editing and engineering solutions for regenerative medicine.

This meeting will bring together scientists and clinicians interested in developmental and regenerative biology, stem cell research, gene therapy, tissue engineering and translational medicine.
