BNA Welcomes CEO's Appointment to ELRIG UK Board, Strengthening Ties Across Life Sciences Sector

The British Neuroscience Association (BNA) is delighted to announce that our Chief Executive, Dr. Laura Ajram, has been appointed to the Board of Governance at ELRIG UK, the leading organiser of scientific conferences for the life science community. This prestigious appointment, effective from the 1st of September 2025, not only recognises Dr. Ajram's significant contributions to the field but also represents a crucial step in fostering and enhancing collaboration across the life sciences sector.

Dr. Ajram’s new role on the ELRIG Board will focus on expanding and supporting partnership initiatives with other associations, a strategic move that aligns with both ELRIG's and the BNA's missions to drive innovation and progress within the scientific community.

Reflecting on her appointment, Dr. Ajram said, “Receiving the ELRIG Early Career Professional Impact Award in 2021 was a significant milestone in my career, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with the community that’s played a key role in my personal and professional development. I hope to support this fantastic team to build strategic links and partnerships to drive future growth, ensuring that ELRIG continues to thrive and expand its impact across the life sciences sector.”

The BNA views this appointment as a significant opportunity to deepen our engagement with the broader life sciences ecosystem, enhancing our ability to advocate for neuroscience and its vital role within interdisciplinary scientific research.

Additional appointments to the ELRIG Board include Dr Lisa Mohamet, Senior Scientific Director, GSK, who joins to expand representation for scientific innovation and lead ELRIG’s diversity and inclusion objectives, and Dr Rob Howes, Head of Discovery Science UK, Charles River Laboratories, who will work to represent the contract research organisations as well as to start ELRIG’s sustainability plan.
