The Art of Neuroscience is an international competition open to scientists and artists worldwide. It was born in 2011 at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN), an institute part of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) as a competition for inspiring and provocative imagery from neuroscience labs. The goal has been to make the research from neuroscience labs more tangible, but also aims for scientists to evaluate their own work from a different perspective.
The 2018 competition judges are looking for striking artworks related to the field of Neuroscience in its broadest sense. Submissions can include images or videos representing actual neural data or tissue, but also more abstract visualizations, sculptures or even musical scores that are in some way related to concepts about nervous tissue, the brain or cognition.
The 8th annual Art of Neuroscience competition is now open for submissions. The deadline for this year's competition is June 4, 2018. Winners will be announced on the Art of Neuroscience website.
They will award €1000 to the winner and €250 each to four honorable mentions.
